smartCARS
Introducing smartCARS
Welcome to smartCARS, the flight tracking system used by Sky Blue Radio Airlines.
smartCARS is our ACARS-style flight tracking software that allows pilots to connect their simulator to the Sky Blue Radio Airlines system, track flights, log flight data, and submit PIREPs after completing a route.
In simple terms: smartCARS is the bridge between your simulator and your pilot profile.
It helps record your flight from engine start to shutdown, making it easier to track your progress, build hours, and keep your Sky Blue Radio Airlines career moving forward.

What Is smartCARS?
smartCARS is a flight tracking application used by virtual airlines to monitor and record pilot flights.
When connected to your simulator, smartCARS can track important flight information such as:
* Departure airport
* Arrival airport
* Aircraft used
* Flight time
* Route information
* Landing rate
* Fuel usage
* Flight events
* PIREP details
Once your flight is complete, smartCARS allows you to submit your PIREP directly to Sky Blue Radio Airlines for review and approval.

Why We Use smartCARS
Sky Blue Radio Airlines uses smartCARS to make flight reporting simple, accurate, and consistent.
Instead of manually entering every detail after a flight, pilots can use smartCARS to track the flight as it happens. This helps keep pilot records accurate and gives the airline a better view of activity across the network.
smartCARS also helps pilots stay connected to their progress by making it easier to log hours, complete scheduled flights, and move up through the rank structure.
Less paperwork. More flying. That is the general flight plan.

Getting Started with smartCARS
Before using smartCARS, you will need an approved Sky Blue Radio Airlines pilot account.
Once your account is active, log into the crew center and locate the smartCARS download or setup information provided by the airline.
After installing smartCARS, you will use your Sky Blue Radio Airlines pilot login information to connect the program to your account.

Basic smartCARS Flight Process
Using smartCARS is simple once you get the rhythm down.
1. Log into the Sky Blue Radio Airlines crew center.
2. Select or bid on the flight you want to fly.
3. Open smartCARS.
4. Log in with your pilot credentials.
5. Load your flight information.
6. Start your simulator.
7. Begin tracking before departure.
8. Complete your flight.
9. Stop tracking after arrival.
10. Submit your PIREP through smartCARS.
Once submitted, your PIREP will be reviewed according to airline procedures. After approval, your flight time will be added to your pilot profile.

When Should I Start Tracking?
Pilots should start tracking their flight before departure.
A good rule of thumb is to begin smartCARS tracking once you are set up at the gate or parking position and before you start moving.
Do not wait until you are airborne to begin tracking. That would be like starting a concert halfway through the guitar solo. Still fun, but the record is missing the good stuff.
—
When Should I Stop Tracking?
Pilots should stop tracking after the flight is complete and the aircraft is safely parked at the arrival airport.
Ideally, you should stop tracking after:
* Landing
* Taxiing to the gate or parking area
* Setting the parking brake
* Shutting down or securing the aircraft
Once the flight is complete, review the information in smartCARS and submit your PIREP.
—
PIREP Submission
A PIREP, or Pilot Report, is the official record of your completed flight.
smartCARS helps collect the flight data and submit it to Sky Blue Radio Airlines. Once submitted, the PIREP may be reviewed by airline staff before being accepted.
Accepted PIREPs count toward your total flight hours, rank progression, awards, and overall pilot activity.

Tips for a Successful Flight
Before starting your flight, make sure:
* Your simulator is running properly
* Your aircraft is loaded at the correct airport
* smartCARS is open and connected
* Your flight information is correct
* You begin tracking before taxi or takeoff
* You remain connected during the flight
* You submit your PIREP after arrival
Taking a minute to check everything before departure can prevent issues later.
The virtual sky is big. The submit button is small. Make sure both are working before you launch.
—
What If Something Goes Wrong?
Sometimes technology gets dramatic.
If smartCARS disconnects, crashes, or fails to record your flight correctly, do not panic. Make a note of what happened and contact Sky Blue Radio Airlines staff for assistance.
When reporting an issue, include as much information as possible, such as:
* Your pilot name or ID
* Flight number
* Departure and arrival airports
* Aircraft used
* Approximate flight time
* A short description of the issue
The more information you provide, the easier it is for staff to help.

Final Approach
smartCARS is an important part of the Sky Blue Radio Airlines pilot experience.
It keeps your flights organized, your hours tracked, and your progress moving forward. Once you get used to it, smartCARS becomes part of the normal preflight routine, right alongside checking the route, fueling the aircraft, and tuning in to Sky Blue Radio.
So load up, connect smartCARS, start tracking, and take the Sky Blue callsign into the virtual skies.
